  • Angola is the lower middle income economic country and most of its wealth is generated from Oil, but only a small part of the population is benefited from it.
  • Oil production and activities contribute about 50% of GDP, Oil also represents over 70% of government revenue and over 90% of the country’s exports.
  • Global recession since 2008 has stalled Angola’s economic growth. In particular, lower prices for oil and diamonds slowed GDP growth in the country.
  • Consumer inflation declined from 325% in 2000 to less than 9% in 2014 and raised again in 2015 to 2016.
  • Falling oil prices, depreciation of the kwanza and expected slower growth in non-oil GDP are the major challenges to the Angola’s economic growth. Corruption is a major long-term challenge that poses an added threat to the economy.
